Dear Mr. Putty,

How do I keep my cat out of the Christmas Tree? My cat Giggles is driving me Crazy!

Nora Lee from the Uk

Dear Nora Lee,

There is not much you can do to stop this excerpt not allowing Giggles in the same room as the tree. Its in a cats nature to climb. If he is an inside cat. He will see the tree as a challenge or a fun thing.

My best advice would be to have a horn or honker near by. When giggles gets in the tree blow it at him with one burst. He will soon get the idea that the tree represents a loud noise he dose not like and he will stop climbing it. That way its safe for you and giggles were he wont associate you his master with something that will hurt him like a spanking.  Don’t be afraid to use the words No sternly as well cats like I do respond to the word no if we are doing something wrong.  Reward us with cat treats and hugs for doing good but a stern No or loud noise works wonders when we are doing bad. Never Beat your cat ! Physical contact with all animals should be in a loving gentle manner always.

Dear Mr. Putty,

I have a very old cat! I have had him for 14 years he is starting to get sick on the floor all the time . Should i have him put down?

Allen T. From Florida

Dear Allen T.,

It is very hard some times to have a good friend like your cat that i know you love with all your hart! However , Putting him down if he is sick may be a good thing. But first take him to the vet and find out if his sickness is something that can be handled by a medication. talk with your vet for alternatives before taking a step such as that. Your cat may have just a bad cold or his belly may have become sensitive to the food he eats in his old age . However let your vet determine what steps would be best for your furry friend. If there is no alternative but to have him put down.  Your family will have my master and my deepest sympathies because we to have lost loved ones and it is very hard. But remember if you have to do this its for your furry friends best interest He will be glad that you did so he wont have to suffer anymore. I as a cat feel when my time comes that my master even though he loves me with all his hart will do whats right and in my best interest for all my years of loyal service and love.
