Our German Shepherd Gesina has been having a couple recent issues. When we came back from our family reunion we noticed that Gesina was having trouble using the restroom (if you know what I mean). Well, this was a pretty normal problem to us (because of her ‘downstairs’ inflammation) so we fed her the usual medicine to bring down the inflammation and solve the problem. We did this for a couple of days (feeding her increasing doses of medication) but the problem didn’t go away as it usually did. So we took her into the vet and left her in over night. The next day they called and said, “Well, it’s kind of hard to explain this. We put her on some anesthetics and then took a look at her. We found out the problem right away.” Apparently, Gesina had been eating rocks! But not just a few rocks, more like 5-6 cups full of rocks! It was unbelievable that she would find them tasty. And by some miracle, her ‘highway out of the bow’ wasn’t torn up by them! It was crazy. When she got home I could tell she was much skinnier than when she left (thanks to the absence of all those rocks)! Well, that was kind of a shocker and we hope she ever gets the idea that ROCKS = FOOD ever again. It was a miracle that she wasn’t  killed they said. That dog only cost us $20 at the pound but has been the most expensive dog medically that we have ever had! I don’t know what’s with our goofy dog Gesina!
