Marijuana remains a controversial drug. The controversy exists because some people want to views the drug as more dangerous than it really is. Most American support legalization or at least decriminalization of the drug. The decriminalization or legalization may or may not happen. Whether or not it happens, people will continue to use hemp in folk art, and as long as it remains illegal there will always be songs about it. There have been many types of art about marijuana for many years. Other types of art inspired by marijuana will continue as well.

Before different types of art get discussed, another criticism must be addressed. Many people assume that marijuana is responsible for bad art. Although there may be many cannabis-inspired paintings and shows, the claims have been greatly exaggerated. Even the 1970s cartoon, Scooby Doo, which supposedly contains many references to the wacky taboccy, was made when the cartoonists were not wasted. It had to be, because one of the other themes of Scooby Doo is a lack of belief in the supernatural. The clues may not have always been there as to who the villain was. The most a person can determine from this is that the writers may have been wasted at some point in their life.

As far as music goes, Toby Keith and Willy Nelson, recently performed a duet called “I’ll Never Smoke Weed With Willy Again” which is about exactly what a person who first hears the title thinks it is. Nelson, who is best known for his country-western style songs, is also th head of an organization known as NORML. NORML works to legalize marijuana.

Comedians have also found inspiration in the strangely shaped leaf. Professional jokesters are more likely to find inspiration in being stoned than any other profession. Adam Sandler told John Stewart that he had been high enough to make Click into a movie. Even Matt Parker and Trey Stone have taken aim at the absurdity of making certain drugs illegal.

There are many committal examples of marijuana-inspired art. The simple plant has caused more controversy than Obamacare. Supporters of the legalization of the drug can also point out that prohibition of the drug is not mentioned in the constitution at all. Many people also lean on the distribution of legal herbs, like the ones featured on http://www.legalherbsdirect.com. Until the legalization of marijuana, you can expect support of legal alternatives to continue.
