Base-to-Base Cases
Common phrases and their comments.
My high school teacher in literature is really good in writing. Aside from that he also speaks good english. English has become his passion. I could not forget him for he taught us how to write and speak good english.
Currently, he’s no longer teaching. But he writes in a local newspaper. I always read his columns. He had this article that made me really laugh out loud. It’s about common phrases that turns out to be amusing. I’d like to share it to everyone. I had fun reading them.
“Well, well, well. Look do we have here!” (Well, well as well!)
“Let’s give them a big hand of applause.” (Or a foot, an elbow or even a neck.)
“It’s a no-win-win situation.” (Hmmmm!)
“Burn the bridge when you get there.” (No comment!)
“Annulled and void.” (Annulled and void? Sounds familiar!)
“Mute and academic.” (Correct!)
“C’mon, let’s join us!”
“Are you joking my leg?” (No I am teasing your neck!)
“It’s not my problem anymore, it’s your problem anymore.” (I don’t care with your life anymore!)
“What are friends are for?” (Are for what again!!)
“Been there, been that.” (Been toot!)
“Forget it about it.” (Yes, let’s join us instead!)
“It’s a blessing in the sky.” (What is?)
“Right there and right then.” (Said what?)
“Take things first at a time.” (That’s a different story!)
“You’re barking at the wrong dog.” (So next time, bark at the right dog!)
“You want to have your cake and bake it, too.” (Hmmm!)
“First and for all.” (No comment again!)
“I’m only human nature.” (Yeah, it shows!)
“The sky’s the langit.” (Pinoy na pinoy!)
“That’s what I’m talking about it.” (What again?)
“One of these days is not like the other.” (It’s like a mutant in Sesame Street!)
“So far, so good, so far.” (So good, so far, so good..)
“The feeling is actual.” (Gosh!)
“Hi. I’m ____, what’s yours?” (Your naughty!)
“What is the world is coming to?” (You can say that again!)
“What is the next that is?” (Well, what is a good question!)
“Bahala na sila sa mga batman nila.” (I go for Robin!)
“Whatever you say so.” (Okay, okay!)
“Base-to-base cases.” (And now reverse!)
“My answers have been prayed.” (Really!)
“Are you sure ka na ba?” (Oo I am sure na talaga ka na ba!)
“Can’t you just cut me some slacks?” (Why, you don’t have denims?)
“I can’t take it anymore of this!” (So enough of this!)
