Bush Isn’t Alone: Dumb Things Said by Past Presidents
The president has been known to make some really strange comments, but he isn’t the first and he definitely won’t be the last president to say something truly unintelligent. Here is a list of ridiculous and peculiar remarks said by presidents of the past.
Gerald Ford

“If Lincoln was alive today, he’d roll over in his grave.”
“That is what has made America last these past 200 centuries.”
“I love sports. Whenever I can, I always watch the Detroit Tigers on the radio.”
“Things are more like they are now than they have ever been.”
“President Carter speaks loudly and carries a fly spotter, a fly swasher — it’s been a long day.”
Bill Clinton

“You know the one thing that’s wrong with this country? Everyone gets a chance to have their fair say.”
“African Americans watch the same news at night that ordinary Americans do.”
George Bush Sr.

“I want to make sure everybody who has a job wants a job.”
Calvin Coolidge

“When a great many people are unable to find work, unemployment results.”
Ronald Reagan

“Now we are trying to get unemployment to go up, and I think we’re going to succeed.”
“There is a mandate to impose a voluntary return to traditional values.”
Richard Nixon

“I was under medication when I made the decision not to burn the tapes.”
