Phishing for Details

A dry try at phishing.

I received a mail in my inbox from a seemingly legitimate e-mail id from ICICI bank. ICICI bank sends promotions and do not use “Valued Customer” in its vernacular. I need to make sure the creativity of its creator.

So, I copy the link http://www.preserveatetowah.com/joomla/modules/update.php to the browser window. There you can make out the creator, a cheap-skate, a novice with no inkling to proper phishing. The browser is directed to www.photozombie.com with an image of the icicibank logo.

The Phony

I click the “Personal “option on the browser.

The details

Now I am really pissed. The author of this site really believes anybody is going to fall for his stupid scam. Now, the author of the site wants the details for a money transfer and the means to use the debit card with its pin number.

I still would like to see how far this goes. I enter the numbers and the “qwerty123″ as the passwords. I click on “login” to pass on to the next page.

I am still on the photozombie site and now for the details at the back of the card.

Acting in good faith, I entered the last of the details pertaining to the card. Of course, choosing my own set.

Thanks

The site finishes with a sincere thank you to the users. I click on the “Home” button on the top left corner, to be directed to the actual www.icicibank.com

One more thing, I forgot to tell you. Your guess is right. I am using Mozilla Firefox 3.5 Beta 4, you should try it. The features have just added up.
