Dog Porn

Porn is so mainstream, it is practically the fourth basic necessity or so it would seem?

I have a dog…a labrador just as dumb as all hell.   And I swear to you, he doesn’t watch porn.  Doesn’t need to.  I know…shocking!  But the same can’t be said for the vast majority of my friends, my co-workers, and many of the people I generally drive past on a daily basis.  The fact is that pornography has entered mainstream society such that it pervades, well, everything

A good friend of mine Matt whom I’ve known since grade school – he’s seeing a therapist for his addiction to porn and for the negative effect that has had on his marriage.  Another friend of mine, Jim, is a psychiatrist.  He’d be the guy helping people out (like Matt) with their porn addictions.  Well, Jim likes to watch porn while he’s having sex with his wife, even though she’s not a big fan of it.  It’s been the main cause of their marital woes and they’re seeing a therapist for it.  Yes, a psychiatrist seeing a therapist…yeesh!  I’m not passing judgment here.  I’m only trying to make the point that it crosses racial divides, cultural divides, class divides, and for all I know, it is probably now part of the curriculum of every grade school countrywide.

Let’s take a look at Paris Hilton.  Her parents gave her a few bags of money, she went out in the world, spread her legs, and 10 seconds after her little video debut, suddenly a spoiled, rich brat with no talent has center stage.  Why?  Simply porn and nothing more.

Were our parents this way and just more discreet about it?  And our grandparents and their parents and their parents?  Were dirty pictures once hung in outhouses all over the West?  I’m constantly amazed at how many people are involved in the porn industry.  The industry calls for a constant influx of new faces and I am genuinely surprised at the flood of people who seem to be waiting in reserve.

Whatever the case, the fact remains that my mutt is somehow able to live without it.  Porn has not become a necessary supplement to his day (for which I’m thankful!).   And somehow, I’m able to live without it too.

Ah, but for all you know your dogs get their rocks off watching other dogs at it in public! ;-)
