Seagull for a Dinner Companion
How a seagull has become named a dinner companion.
My husband was away on business and emailed this picture of a seagull standing on his table at his outdoor seating eating off of his dinner plate (fortunately he was done). He couldn’t get over how brazen this bird was to just pull up a spot and join him in his Mexican feast. So I read the email and showed the picture to the kids and they all laughed and thought it was so neat that daddy had a very interesting dinner companion, as he put it. Well this has been a bit ago and today they came home from school and one of my kids says “mommy I seen a dinner companion today.” “A what?” I asked not remembering the email at all. “A dinner companion, outside at recess.”
Honey I don’t know what you are talking about! Mom you do know, the bird that was eating with daddy! The dinner companion! Then it hit me like a bird out of the sky that I knew what she was referencing. “Honey that is not called a dinner companion, it was a seagull.” “No it wasn’t daddy said it was a dinner companion.” “Yes that is because it was eating with him but the bird is a seagull.” “NO ITS NOT!” “Yes it is!” I said back. “Daddy said it was a dinner companion!” “No it is a seagull!” I repeated. “NO ITS NOT!” “Yes it is!” “No its not!” “Yes it is!” I found myself arguing over whether or not this bird is called a seagull or a dinner companion. As you can guess I lost! The world now has a bird known as a dinner companion. The joys of being a parent and having kids that absolutely know everything!
