Living over seas had really opened my mind to new cultures and new habits. Some of these were a lot stranger and weirder than you would think. I do have a strong stomach however, so I did eat a lot of stuff that probably wouldn’t have even come up as an idea in some of your minds. Well let’s take a look then.

Scorpions

These didn’t really have any taste at all. They tasted like burnt popcorn. Most of you are probably thinking how didn’t you get stung or something like that. The stinger is either removed, or the poison is extracted. Now the picture above was not the picture of scorpions I ate. The ones that I ate were about that size, but they were black and there were about 30 of them on the plate, not a skewer.

Grasshoppers

MMMMMM! These were actually pretty good. Now they didn’t taste like chicken, buy they tasted a lot like an uncooked kidney bean. You know, when the bean is hard and it doesn’t really have any taste? That’s what it tasted like. But when I ordered it (I ordered it at the dirt market in Beijing, China) It came with a bitter sauce that made it taste almost like a bitter small pear.

Ox Penis

Now this one was disgusting. I ate it for a bet and I ended up walking away with ¥200 ($30. I know its not that much here, but in china that was a lot!) I tasted terrible. Like beef blended with a pear and completely burnt patties. It had the texture of mushy soggy fries. DISGUSTING!!!!

Chicken Feet

Yes, they are chicken feet. They didn’t taste bad at all. They just had the crunch of a tasteless chip. I have to admit; I ate this one just for bragging rights, as who would want to eat something that has no taste? I mean I didn’t know that it had no taste, but if you think about chicken feet is just skin, a tiny bit of muscle, and cartilage and bones make up the rest.

Cow Eyes

When most people think of cow eyes, they think of dissecting them, not eating them! These tasted horrible. They worst thing was, when I took a bite, all the Vitreous fluid gushed out and stained my shirt (Vitreous fluid is the white gooey gel that is inside your eye. Well at least a little white.) They tasted like bile, the stuff that comes out of your liver. It was insanely nasty.

Well those are some of the nasty and gross foods that I have eaten. If you ever come across a platter of these, then try it out for once!
