Funny Science Story 1: DNA as Mafia Boss

A funny way to teach DNA replication.

Deoxyribonucleic Acid, which in short is called DNA, is very famous among biologists. It has ability to multiply which in the terms of science is known as replication. However, DNA acts like a Mafia Boss who uses RNA for its interest and then kills him.

Are you confused?

For answers just read on.

The situation is as follows:

  1. DNA like a Mafia boss does nothing more than giving commands to his assistants (DNA polymerase, Helicase, Telomerase, ATP and Nucleotides etc).
  2. DNA first gives space to RNA to sit and relax while in the meantime asking his assistants to multiply him using RNA.
  3. Once multiplied, DNA tries to get rid RNA to eliminate all the proofs of his multiplication. DNA uses his assistant, DNA polymerase to kill RNA.
  4.  DNA polymerase chops the RNA into pieces to hide the identity of RNA. Once done, it himself get vanish in thin air.

Therefore, it is clear from the above story how shrewd our DNA is. It uses and then kills RNA. In addition, it is very clever, as it leaves no traces of crime by getting RNA fragmented.

I hope this story helps you to understand the modus operandi of DNA replication.
