A List of Taxation Opinions That Can Make You Smile
The American public has a knack for being able to voice political opinions while still being able to see the funny side of things!
On of the local stores here had an advertisement flyer which contained not only the current sales going on but also some humorous ‘tidbits’ regarding the government and taxes. Since I got a chuckle out of it, I thought that I’d pass these thoughts on to you! Now, I don’t know who originally came up with these thoughts nor even when they originated but the underlying feelings are probably something we all can relate to!!
1. Ever wonder why the IRS calls one of its’ forms a “1040″ form? Because for every fifty dollars that you earn, you get “10″ and they get “40″!
2. Isn’t it appropriate that our income tax month begins with April Fool’s Day and ends with cries of “May Day!”?
3. The income tax has made more liars out of the American people than fishing has!
4. The only difference between a taxman and a taxidermist is that the taxidermist leaves the skin!
5. The government’s view of our economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it! If it keeps moving, regulate it! And if it stops moving, subsidize it!
6. I am proud to be paying taxes in the United States. However, I could be just as proud…for half the money!!
7. The difference between death and taxes is that death doesn’t get worse everytime Congress meets!
8. If Thomas Jefferson thought taxation without representation was bad, he should see how it is with representation!!
9. Few of us ever test our powers of deduction…except when filling out an income tax form!
10. Our government must love poor people…it’s created so many of them!
11. The Internal Revenue Code is approximately 10 times the size of the Bible but, unlike the Bible, contains no Good News!

That is very good Muriel. It gave me a chuckle too. I particularly liked your government’s view of your economy (5). Great work as always.
Christine

Hi Christine! Thank you! Yes, I think that the government’s view of our economy is often a bit different than the views of the common man!
Hi Mr. Ghaz! I’m glad you liked it! Politics is certainly a subject that has been the inspiration for many humorous sayings and cartoons in the past!
Fun read and so true also.
Hah, this was funny ” Our government must love poor people…it’s created so many of them!”

LOL- I liked #4 the best.
LOL, I loved it, Someone has a very humorous viewpoint. It’s better to smile than cry.
Hi Goodselfme! Yes, though I kind of wish some of it wasn’t as true as it is!
Hi Lauren! I laughed over this one, too! And it seems as though our government hasn’t met its’ quota yet, either!
Hi Betty! Thanks! During our Revolutionary War in the 1700’s, political cartoons were considered to be more effective than the printed word in the Colonies since a large percentage of the population could not read! But they certainly could remember the message of a humorous cartoon!
Hi Jo! Ha ha…when looking at my bank statement, it kind of makes me wish that all the politicians had gone into the taxidermy
business!
Hi Ruby! I agree…if we don’t laugh, we’ll want to cry! I wonder who first said that…a taxed citizen in the Roman Empire, perhaps?!
