How Do You Read Traffic Signs?
Often, signs on our roadways are not adhered to as they are intended. Could this be because we don’t all read them the say way?
-
Stop
You are to come to a complete halt.
But if you’re on your cell phone, just slow down and let the others stop because you’re busy.
-
Yield
You should slow down and give way to those ahead of you.
But if you have a great car, then they should automatically yield to you.
-
Deer Crossing
The wildlife creatures have the right of way and you need to slow down or stop to let them cross.
But if you’re a hunter it means it’s open season for you.
-
No Right Turn
Drivers cannot make a right-hand turn at this destination.
But it could mean that there is no right or wrong way of turning so turn whichever way you want.
-
50 MPH
The highest speed you can travel is 50 miles per hour.
But it could mean that they all have to go 50 miles an hour but you can drive as fast as you want.
-
Drive Slow
This means that drivers should proceed at a much slower speed than the speed limit.
But if you’re already speeding it just means drop it a peg.
-
No Trucks Allowed
This means that vehicles deemed as trucks cannot travel on a specified roadway.
But if your truck has a name then it doesn’t apply to you.
-
Buckle Up
This means that you need to wear your seatbelt.
But if it doesn’t match your outfit then it doesn’t apply.
-
No U-Turn
You cannot make a direction change in the middle of the road.
But it could mean, “no, you turn”, which means that no, you are going the wrong way and you should turn here.
-
Camera Surveillance
This means that this section of the roadway is being recorded visually so drive carefully
But if you don’t have your makeup on then it will pass your car.

I admit, I am guilty of some of the above and admitting is the 1st step.
