Which American cities are considered the most dangerous?
Opinions seem to vary as to the order of the most dangerous but does it really matter which one is rated # 5 versus which one is rated # 1? If you or someone you love is attacked in the sixth most dangerous city won’t they be just as dead as if it had happened in the second most dangerous American city?
Here are two lists of the most dangerous American cities. Both lists are based on six crime categories: murder, robbery, rape, burglary, aggravated assault and motor vehicle theft.

Interesting. As an outsider, I would have said that Chicago was the most dangerous city in US. This is based on what I read in the media and seen on TV here in England. Chicago doesn’t feature in the lists at all! It’s amazing how the impression we get here is different from the one put out in US.
I agree Louie. I’m surprised that Chicago, New York City and L.A. didn’t make the list of most dangerous… I was shocked that North Charleston, S.C. made the list!
That’s good to know. Maybe we should all move to Cary, North Carolina. I’m surprised Atlanta isn’t on the top 10 dangerous list.
Wow! I would have guessed that Detroit would have been the most dangerous city. Hehe!! The thing about Detroit is, only the dowtown part of the city is nice after you get beyond Wayne State’s campus is when you should get scared. My Dad and I went to see the campus a month ago and we got out of the downtown area and all we could see was bums it was scary. Nice list NIck!
Quite an interesting article. Does make you think. Sadly we have seen the crime rate increase in our area too.
You are right Nick, dead is dead. No matter where, it’s tragic when it’s crime related. I’ve always heard about Detroit and Oakland. But in the safe zone…Greece, NY is a very serene and safe township. Very informative facts Nick. Nice piece.
