We all have obstacles to overcome. Sometimes the best way to do it is to become someone else.

Pretending to be someone else is something you often did when you were a child at playtime. You may have pretended you were your favorite superhero. It is something that we are supposed to grow out of. There are people who do not grow out of this task although - we know them as actors. They take on a personality and become them for a part in a movie or a play.

Sometimes pretending to be someone else is not such a bad thing to try. Usually when you may want to be like someone else, the reason you have this desire is that they are a role model. Their may be some character traits they possess that you do not feel you have. Pretending to be someone else can help you pick mold new traits into your character. That is why we often have role models.

In the television series Boston Legal, Donny Crane wanted to be as great an attorney as his father, Denny Crane, so he pretended to be him all through college and growing up. When he finally had his case in court, he channeled Denny Crane and won the case.

Being someone else, even if just for s few moments at times can help us forget fears that we have. At the time when you may be that unsure, you just ask yourself “What would _______ do?” It is one way of overcoming obstacles we have. After all, we all have to face our fears. Once we face our fears, the pain goes away. Pretending to be someone else is something you should never grow out of.

My dad abandoned my sister and I when we were kids and growing up I looked to my friends fathers as mentors. I learned a lot about character and who I was. Honestly the experience of having so many good people in my life helped me decide how to be positive and how to be myself. This is one of the best articles I have read. Thank You.
