Top Seven Signs of a Male Midlife Crisis

Okay guys, when we get to a certain age everything changes, but we don’t have to.

It goes without saying that we all get older. But, is it true that we are all getting better? Some will argue this point until they are blue in the face, but is blue an attractive aging color? I mean, many people as they age get blue hair, but is it really a bad thing? Let’s examine life by taking a look at ourselves clearly, not with a mirror, but with the true impressions of ourselves, our self worth.

Take a walk with me if you would through impressions others have made upon me. I am not claiming to understand everything, nor can I claim to have even been educated in the field of analyzing or psychoanalyzing, but I do have eyes and a brain. Therefore, I can observe and rationalize. Perhaps through my identification and explanation, you too will come to the realization that life is just that; life. It’s a mere bag of shells and whatever shell we grab happens to be the one we must keep forever. We must therefore learn to be happy with our shell, perhaps prop it up, display it, shine it every once in a while and just be proud of it.

My life is no better or worse than any other, but there is a difference, I am happy and damn proud of my shell. I have a beautiful wife that loves me and inspires me. She gave me 4 beautiful children who as well assumed a portion of my shell. My generalizations are simple because to understand this we must think as a child would think; inquisitively and innocently.

Let’s begin…

  1. Am I at my house, this grass is greener? – ah, we start to lose track of our own self and think what everyone else has is better, so we try to keep up with the Jones’
  2. There’s hair on my back – age is a natural thing, but sometimes nature plays a trick on us as the hair on our head disappears and ends up growing on our back, from our noses or even our ears
  3. I can’t see my toes – Okay, this is one that brings change right away
  4. Not enough sweaters – ever notice that as you get older we feel colder all the time indicating that we are no longer young though our minds may disagree
  5. You’re driving too fast – this is a biggie as we know we got old when we teach our kids to drive and the second they go over the speed limit by one MPH, we get panicky
  6. Should I mow the lawn topless – okay, now if it’s women asking the question, by all means, but there are men at this age that shouldn’t even take their shirts off in the shower
  7. They don’t print enough dollar bills for me – this is a very important sign for mean as it indicates that they’re in the wrong place seeking compliments, you know the places that we have to pay women to look at us

Good article. Myself am at middle age and very happy in my place in life, even though I find myself in a mid-life crisis. I find that at a young 40, I am going through a list of things I haven’t done yet in my life!

Jamie Lee Curtis said the other day on TV that ‘age is just a reminder that we have more things to do in life.’
