Rabbit Grazing Sheep Has Become a Hit Online
Champis the sheep grazing rabbit is driving people crazy on YouTube. Watch for yourself!
Champis the rabbit is not only hopping; He also learned how to tend the flock of his owner, apparently by watching the dogs which did this task before. This video was found online for over half a year, but is only started to become an “Internet hit” last week.
The video clip shows the 5-year-old rabbit can give order to the sheep farm in the small village Cal in northern Sweden. A pair of farmers, Nils-Eric and Greta Jergen, said that they identified the special talent last spring, when they took the sheep for the first time after the long Nordic winter.
“He just started acting like a dog shepherd,” recalled Greta, who said that Champis the rabbit likes to collect the sheep, but is more tender toward the chicken and not pink on them at all. “He’s like the king of the farm. He thinks he controls the sheep and chickens. He got a big ego,” added Greta.
Dan Westman, an expert on Breeding of shepherd dogs, who took the video and post it, said he was shocked when he first show Champis in action, and admitted that the rabbit is functioning better than many dogs in that role: “I find it hard to believe, that this rabbit is grazing. He gathers them together and if they are close to escape through the gate, he stops them sometimes. I work with these dogs, and I know how hard that task is.”
