My Top Five Greatest Inventions of All Time

Published by agentX in Satire

Another addition to my top five list.

The Light Bulb

The Neanderthal created fire.We created light.Patented and created by Thomas Alva Edison , the light bulb took mankind’s imagination to a whole new level. Edison’s creation not only illuminated the world , but it illuminated the minds of future scientists and led to the invention of several other breakthrough’s in technology such as the laser , which has countless medical applications and even the television display , all are light and all are powered.Just think of a world without the light bulb. One more , seemingly unknown advantage is that , without the light bulb , we would be forced to use less Eco-friendly methods of obtaining light, which may have led to wide spread pollution and an even more accelerated global warming.

The Telephone

Mass communication has always been a breakthrough for the human race , and without it , our entire world would be literally at a stand still. We wouldn’t be coordinated enough to get anything done , and we would probably be forced to form tight packs or groups, much as animals do , in order to stay in contact.Perhaps it would be better that way in certain senses, but that is besides the point.A fact that many of you may not know , is that the telephone was not just created by Alexander Graham Bell , but by another man named Elisha Gray, the only reason why we learn Bell’s name in school , is because he reached the patent office faster than Gray , mere hours apart.History is odd at times.

Self Propelled Flight

This one is known by almost every man , woman and child. The story of the wright brothers and their famous winged marvel at kitty-hawk. Orville and Wilbur wright are two unforgettable and astounding human beings , in their own right if I do say so myself.Their design , influenced , directly or indirectly, the creation of the jet plane , remote control Ariel reconnaissance fighters , and even space travel , by showing others what was possible , which in reality, is everything, as long as we put our minds to it.

The Computer

Can any of us, really live without a computer? Originally designed for defense , the computer has become an indispensable part of our lives , and its uses varied almost beyond comprehension itself.Present day computers are used to work , to play , to have fun , to shop,to study,to talk , to date , and to generally do anything . How do you think your reading this article anyway? and how do you think I wrote it? A type writer? I think not.

Fire

Mankind’s first invention is no doubt , its greatest. The first spark of fire , ignited human imagination as we know it. In Greek mythology , Prometheus , the good titan gave fire, a forbidden item , to man , and that was how man became intelligent , strong , cooperative , cunning and over all , pretty damn good. And mythology isn’t that far off from the truth itself.Next time when you look into a fire , remember , that your not only looking at a meaningless blaze , but your looking at the heat source that incubated the egg of human imagination itself.

    Good article.
Maybe the wheel instead of fire—as fire was more discovered than invented.
