Socialism Thanksgiving and Capitalism

I was listening to Rush Limbaugh recently and he was talking about socialism. He brought up the real first thanksgiving. What happened was that the people from the first thanksgiving tried a form of government in which everyone who produced food had to put it all into an area where everyone could take from it. A lot of people would think that this is a good idea.

Well what happened was that, some of the people realized that they didn’t have to do anything to get food, including some of the farmers, and they took advantage of the system. This caused a shortage in the food supply and people started to go hungry. This shows in its most basic form how a socialist government/system doesn’t work, or at least not very well at all. The ideas are great don’t get me wrong. Today some of our usual everyday thing we take for granted stem from some sort of socialist idea, like the police, and fire departments. In a perfect world a socialist form of government could possibly work, but unfortunately we don’t live in a perfect world. Socialism doesn’t take into account basic human nature. It doesn’t allow for someone to better himself or herself.

Well now I should finish how the real first thanksgiving went. What the local government did was told the people that, anything you produce, you can keep for yourself and/or sell/trade it. When this came into effect, the next season, they produced an abundance of food, and then they basically had a celebration, and then invited the Native Americans to it. This just shows how capitalism actually is more helpful and useful to our society. It allows one’s self to better their self, and to strive forward in the world.

As you can see through my main points, socialism sounds good but tend to be very flawed in the real world. Look at history, it just tells you right there.

Apparently Capitalism has the same problem then, since the meltdown of our system recently came from people not doing the ethical thing. Capitalism didn’t take into account basic human nature of greed left unregulated. Capitalism also makes no case for assisting anyone who has become so poor they no longer can provide themselves with a new start in life. However, capitalism is an artificial system imposed upon people who are expected to remain lawful while their flesh and blood is tormented in poverty?

Actually our system is very socialist. The un-regulation of Capitalism, can actually work because if someone cheats in the system the system will eventually fix the problem. It’s pretty much self regulating. Basically if a big company collapses, there are smaller companies that will pick up the slack, which in turn creates new jobs. As for the people who might need help to get back on their feet. I have no issue with any of that as long as it’s a limited time, you don’t want anyone to abuse the system. You don’t want them to feel like it’s a right, when it should be a privilege. Thanks for the comment, and good points and questions.

Capitalism isn’t only about tangeable assets. I came from homelessness and through hard work providing services, was able to create wealth to work my way up the financial ladder. To say the poor get poorer, is just an excuse for laziness. I did it without any government or private hand outs of any kind.

Larry, You’re exactly the kind of person America needs. I agree with you that on all you said. Unfortunately it’s hard to put all aspects of things in just one write up. Thanks for the comment pal.
