Ever since my boyfriend started working at the Comedy club in Sydney, I’ve met a whole lot of comedians. They are among the funnest people I’ve ever met, but hardly the most physically attractive people in the world. Never the less, there are always a considerably sized group of girls hanging around the stage after the show offering to buy the comedians drinks. So what’s the secret?

Well first of all, women are definitely attracted to a man with a sense of humour; someone who can make them smile and cheer them up when they’re down. Plus, comedic timing and a sharp wit generally go hand in hand with intelligence. Intelligence is an attribute to be respected, but a man who isn’t afraid to make fun of himself makes him seem approachable and easy going. The comedy scene in general is difficult to get into and there’s a lot of unpaid gigs until you hit the big time and start earning decent money, if ever. So making the decision to pursue that career shows a woman that you’re not afraid to go for what you want and dedicate yourself to something even though you know it’s not perfect – a little like a relationship.

A good comedian will eventually end up earning themselves a certain degree of fame, either locally or internationally. This is always a turn on for a girl, there’s no question about that. Plus, if you’re lucky, success will bring money, so the best possible end point of a comedic career is international celebrity, fame and fortune. That kinda explains a lot.

The confidence needed to get up on stage and risk failure is also a valuable asset. This entails two aspects: confidence in one’s own abilities and confidence to take a risk and try something new, even if there’s a good chance it won’t work out.

So don’t listen to people who tell you not to be a class clown, there may not be much money initially in comedy but I can practically guarantee that there will be hot women
