This ad is in response to the huge reaction I got from my first article featuring personal ads.  In our “virtual” world, it is becoming harder and harder to meet that special someone.  People have been using personal ads for decades and decades to help meet their needs.  Here’s a look at some of the funnier/odder ones out there that I was able to find.

Hm, an anime buddy.  I can’t say I know much about that other than I think it’s a little weird for grown ups to spend so much time playing make believe and reading comics.  I guess everyone needs a friend.  What’s really funny though is the ad above the circled one.  It reads:  “Wing Girl Wanted.  Looking for attractive, outgoing and wonderful women to help me approach and carry on conversations with other women in bars, clubs, and social gatherings.  $20/hour for up to 8 hours a week.  Training will be provided”.  I can’t decide whether this would be a good gig or if it’s plain old prostitution.  Either way, a very different ad.

Sometimes it’s better to exaggerate your qualities a little bit when trying to find a mate.  My favorite is the “face only a mother would love…great for dimly-lit romantic meals”.  Hysterical!  These ads were attached to a newspaper article about how the personal ads in the UK are much more honest than those in the US/Canada.  I guess it’s taboo to lie in ads there?  Maybe some of my more travelled readers could comment.

Okay, seriously.  This is a real ad.  There were many more from this source of super kinky ads.  This was the only one I was comfortable posting here though.  I guess there really are furries.  I thought they only existed in that CSI episode.

It has been translated as: “Young Desperate Man seeks good-looking intelligent girl with the right shapes.  Will also consider an experienced woman.  A mature older woman will also do, and in the worst case even a guy.  Answer to “Dinner for Two?”.  Yikes.  I guess people everywhere are looking for love or the closest they can get to it.

This has been translated as: “You came home with me on Friday.  Not only took my virginity, but my key to the laundry room.  Why?  Unnecessary.  This relationship lacks communication.”  Wow, “relationship”.  Sure.

Wow, this lady sure has a bunch of money to help her look for love.  I wish her much success.  Sometimes other “relationship challenged” people don’t have the money to spend to advertise for love so extravagantly.

This guy just decided to put up a sign in his front yard.  He’s going through a divorce and yes, there was beer and a few friends involved in the “great” idea.  There was no takers yet as of this posting.
