The Worst Places to Fall Asleep
How many times have you closed your eyes in seconds, minutes and hours within harm’s way?

Many will probably agree that if most of us could appreciate the satisfaction in leading our normal life functions, like eating, drinking and sexual activity, we couldn’t take for granted the fulfillment that sleep does to our bodies when the other life functions has left us tired that we need the extra energy to recharge ourselves. Like an engine on hours operation that would conk out without warning, chances are we may fall asleep without our knowing when extreme body fatigue has overwhelmed us.
Sleeping was my ultimate weakness, I have other weaknesses but for the purpose of this post it simply is the only human nature where I have the lowest tolerance to avoid. When I was on my early days at school I just have to wake up in the middle of a class with the teacher pinching my ears thus I realize I have fallen asleep while the class was ongoing. I will often be left standing there beside the blackboard as the teacher returns to the lecture and I will be embarrassed facing my classmates till the class ends.
Sleeping with the BMX. When I was in high school, I remembered having a bad issue of flu where despite taking 2 cold tablets to keep off the constant flow of clear mucus on my nostrils, it was so bad that I have to keep sneezing all the time placing the whole class in distraction. Considering that the medication I have taken has not taken effect, I asked permission from the school principal to be allowed to go home to recover for which she readily agreed. Taking my BMX bike and my backpack to cycle back on the way home (about 8 kms), I realized the cold tablet was taking effect in that I was beginning to feel sleepy. I was cycling in a hurry thinking of the drive to fall to sleep (I suppose non-drowsy cold tablets wasn’t yet sold during that time). Then my mind missed a blink and the next thing I knew I was lying there on the side of the road having tumbled down beyond my knowing. Obviously I have fallen asleep while maneuvering the bicycle.
Liked it

As you said, BMX, jeep and airplace might not be a suitable place to sleep. Thanks for sharing your experience.
My husband fell asleep on the train a couple of weeks ago and ended up 100 miles away.
Interesting write.
I once fell asleep on the bus late one night and missed my stop. I had to walk a long way to get back to where I should have been. I had to walk on the road because there were no side walks. I thought I was going to get hit by a car. It was a bad situation to be in.
Thanks for the Info
Cant say I have ever fallen alseep someplace silly, not yet anyhow.
OMG! Yes, it’s one thing to doze of at your desk (at work or school), but something completely different to doze off at the controls of a moving vehicle.
I tend to have the opposite problem, I stay awake and see things I shouldn’t have!
Nice piece,
Thanks,
Clay
All of them must have been scary incidents that made you think!! Your ending made me laugh, nicely thought out with added humor! As always Will your work is excellent and I hihly enjoy reading your material!!
Excellent…
Great post…
Good article.
I slept in the bus and got down at a place 50 km away. And that too in the midnight.
Again caught a bus and slept again to reach a point where i started from last day.
Nowadays i don’t sleep during travel.
Great article, with very nice added humor.Great work!
thanks for the share..
Dozing on a jeepney? That really sounds very good.
Sleeping in the bus is usual for me, but something wakes me when my destination comes.
That was a really good story. I always seem to get very drosy when the minister starts to preach. Not good!
I have fun written this one. Nice views.
Falling asleep at the controls of a plane?? That is not good, Will. lol. Very scary stuff. Glad you’re still with us. And yes, sleep at home!!
it’s hard to stay awake when you are so sleepy, I worked on the night shift at one time and on my way driving home every morning rain or shine, I had to hang my head out the window to keep myself awake. It was horrible. I’m surprised I’m still alive to tell about it, or you either for that matter with your history of falling asleep.
I have a friend who use to sleep in class. I love this line -”I could fall on my chair dunking my head on the computer screen and get electrocuted while dozing on my way to publish an article but that would be another story.” ..LOL….
I have the opposite problem, I can’t sleep in anything that moves!!!! :p|
Oh no…. that could have been very critical!
This was a great article. I have fallen asleep on the bus too. Luckily, the ride was so long that I would wake up before I would get to my destination. I have to try harder to stay awake so that I won’t miss my stops. LOL!
so nicely done, I truly enjoyed reading this!!
