Beginners Guide to Cutting Hair

I’m a beginner, and so I feel I am in the perfect position to offer a beginner’s guide on cutting hair.

Cutting hair is as simple as cutting paper or snipping your garden hedge. All you need is a sharp pair of scissors and a comb. If you don’t have a sharp pair of scissors, you could probably get away with blunt ones. The key to cutting hair is to just do it with confidence. Always remember: Hair will grow in again, so no need to worry.

Give a Little Whistle

Whistling is always recommended when you are cutting hair. It gives your victim the impression that you know what you are doing. People often whistle when they are doing something difficult or if they are nervous and the purpose of it is to fake confidence. Just whistle and cut.

Another good tactic when cutting hair as a beginner is to make sure your victim cannot see himself in the mirror while you chop away. In fact, it might be a good move to make sure he doesn’t see a mirror before he leaves the building. If he has any complaints, reassure him with the words: “It will grow in again”.

Talk While You Snip

Talking to the victim while you cut is always a good tactic as it totally distracts them from what you are doing. All good barbers talk rubbish so make sure to do the same. Ask them what they are doing this weekend. All barbers ask that question, as if it was any of their business.

The more you talk, the more your subject gets bored and will soon lose sight of what is going on. This allows you to simply chop away until your heart is content. Some would say that cutting hair is a skill you need to spend months learning but this is not true. It really is as easy as falling off a log.  As long as you know which end of the scissors to hold, you can cut hair anyday. Piece of cake!
