How to Annoy The Hell Out of Your Workplace Partner
For those of us who have worked in a place like an office, you’d know exactly how this feels.
We all have strange yet natural habits that can annoy the people we work with, when trying to think. Let’s just take this time to explore those habits.
- Clicking your pen – The technique goes back to probably when you were 5 years old in primary, and your teacher growled at you for playing with the tip of your writing utensil. Once you have the habit, you’ll find it difficult to lose. Nothing beats the fun out off clicking your pen and watch the time fly by.
- Tapping the foot – This can usually occur when one is excited or amused in some way. Example: You’d normally see some pianists tapping their foot while playing music, or a gamer tapping their feet while playing an interesting game.
Also, someone tapping their foot could mean they are listening to music whether through headphones or simply playing it over in his/her head. The tap represents the beat of the music.
- Humming – Think you’ll avoid annoying your neighbour by humming your favourite song, rather than singing it? Think again. It’s the next worse thing. Perhaps find a tune you both like? That could be a solution!
- Who’s got the Squeaky Chair? – A classic example. Believe it or not, people find this amusing, several to a dozen years after he/she starts primary.
Keep your feeling to yourself – When something goes wrong, and it does, it’s sometimes hard to swallow your emotions. This involves, growling, snorting, punching the wall or anything else rather solid, panting, cursing and low grumbling.

you’re right. Among the options you gave, I find humming annoying, especially if it’s out of tune. But I’m careful not to be seen annoyed or else it’s a victory for the annoyer. Good article.
well i havethe habiit of tapping the foot
The constant clicking of a pen would be the most annoying thing for me.
LOL…for some folks, annoying others is a natural gift.
Thanks for posting such a wonderful article.. There are always annoying people at the workplace. I used to work with a guy who made my life impossible just because he was in constant competition with me. And it used to tick him off because I never paid any attention to him. But yes, back to your article, the squeaky chair is annoying just like putting their foot and kicking your chair is another one that gets under my skin. I agree with the comment above mine: For some people, annoying others is something that they enjoy. You know what they say: Misery loves company.
This sure made me laugh mzmax : )) you are surely right in what you say
)
great read, i havent met anyone in a while who has annoyed me yet.
Maybe we all do something to annoy anther at one time, but it is when we find out it annoys someone and we keep on doing it that it is down right discouteous. You mention some big ones here. TX
I once worked with a guy who insisted on bringing things like squid for lunch. He would reheat it in the microwave and the stench wafted through the entire office space. Not cool…
One of my colleagues hates the tapping of a pen on the desk, it drives him mad!!! I hate general untidiness. We all have our ‘thing’ that irritates.
Another excellent write I always get a good laugh from your work,good stuff!! I think we all have annying habits and can all find other peoples ahbits annoying! I hate smackers,people who can’t shut their damn mouths when eating, this really annoys the hell out of me!lol
lmao. =) I loved this
I loved it! I click my pen whenever I am thinking. LOL! Hearing someone mock someone else is something that annoys me. LOL! Another thing that annoys me is when someone cuts you off while you are talking and doesn’t apologize for it.
Thank you all for the positive feedback, glad I could entertain.
Max
I am not sure that was actually humor.
