Be nice to all of your co-workers and boss. Go out of your way to help your boss out.

Collect every bit of information about each co-worker. Talk to them and be-friend them. This way they will loosen up and tell you more. Record all of there personal information. Remember every dirty little secret about them.

Work at a steady pace until the boss comes around. Then go out of your way to work just a little harder than your co-worker. This will make your relationship with you and your boss grow.

Once you know each co-worker at a personal level, try to make them feel comfortable around you. However when you are working for the same promotion as Him/Her, get really dirty. Use your knowledge about that co-worker and try to bring it up around your boss without looking like a rat. Act as if it slipped, this will interest the boss-man. But also show that you are not afraid to open up to the boss because your so-called relationship is better with the boss than the co-worker, especially when it comes down to money.

Once you have achieved all of this, keep all of your co-workers ignorant until it boils down to it. Then when it’s time for someone to get laid off or time for someone to get that pay-cut, remind your boss who the real alfa-male is.
