An Enlightened View of Mistakes
Love forgets mistakes…

A woman I admire very much has a kitchen uncluttered by the traditional signs and slogans, but she does have this motto over the sink: “Love forgets mistakes.” Optimists do not harbor grudges or hoard memories of previous wrongs. This is not only because they have a high view of the human race but also because they have a distinctive way of thinking about the nature of mistakes. They see them as a springboard to learning.
The manager of an IBM project that lost $10 million before it was scrapped was called into a meeting at the corporate office.
“I suppose you want my resignation?” he said.
“Resignation nothing!” replied his boss. “We’ve just spent $10 million educating you.”
