10 of the Strangest and Unique Wedding Venues Ever
Marriage is seen by many to be the consolidation of a partnership, where two become one. However, with so much to organise leading up to the big day, as well as the amount of people involved in your wedding plans, you may find that somewhere along the line the power appears to be shifting away from you and your partner, and before you know it, you have lost control of one of the most important days of your lives.
There are a number of ways however, where you can make sure that your wedding day is truly yours and your partner’s. A key way of doing so includes choosing an unusual venue for your big day. Although some choices may not be favoured by all of those involved, you will definitely go down in the history books as being unique! Below are 10 of the most bizarre and unique venues couples have chosen to tie the knot.
1. Till Death Do Us Part
A couple in the USA chose one of the most unique (and some may think creepy) places to get married, when they tied the knot in their families’ funeral home. The reception (including dinner and dancing) was also held at the venue, and the couple were reported as having to reassure guests that there were no corpses present!
2. Haunted House

Those who fancy a bit of mystery and suspense may welcome the idea of getting married in a haunted house. Whether you believe in ghosts or not, the eerie feeling of a spooky old mansion, combined with a mysterious story will surely have you looking over your shoulder.
Boys Hall, a 17th century Jacobean Manor House, is just one to mention, where legend has it that a number of ghosts inhabit the hall and grounds. These include John, the drunk in the dining room, Thomas the stable master, and the girl who jumped to her death from one of the upper windows.
3. Underwater

Those of you who enjoy swimming, scuba diving, snorkeling, or any kind of water sports may be in your element when discovering the option of tying the knot under water. Although you may get your wedding attire a little wet, not only will it be a memorable experience, you won’t have to worry about wedding invites!
4. The London Eye

Scared of heights… if not then this may be the perfect venue for you. Why not celebrate your big day in style on one of London’s hottest attractions, the London Eye. Having your own capsule, the decorations and timings will provide you with the most memorable of days (timed so that you exchange your vows at the top of the wheel over 135m above London). What’s best is that due to your private capsule, you get to enjoy this experience with your closest relatives and friends, making it a small, yet intimate ceremony.
5. Film Studio

Live like a movie star on the set of a new blockbuster at Pinewood Film studios. This venue is very unique in the respect that it is far from your conventional church wedding. Be whichever movie star you want to be on this special day… after all it is your day!
6. Pamper Yourself
What better way to enjoy your wedding day than enjoying it in the comfortable surroundings of a spa. Without the stresses and strains that accompany a wedding, you’ll be able to tie the knot there and then, followed by a nice relaxing massage, sauna, steam room, or whatever tickles your fancy.
7. In the Jungle
Love animals? If so look no further. There are a number of venues where you can tie the knot that will allow you to be surrounded by a number of your favorite animals. The ZSL London Zoo is one of many venues where you can exchange your vows, and in the presence of your friends and family, you will become either your partners Tarzan, or Jane!
8. A Shining Light

The Museum of Scottish lighthouses has all the facilities to host your wedding. Nothing can beat the mystery and suspense an old lighthouse brings, so if that’s your cup of tea, why not enjoy the surroundings and diversity of such a wedding.
9. Edge Your Bets
If you fancy a flutter, why not make a day of it. Sandown Park is just one to mention, but there are many courses that will allow you to tie the knot at your favorite racing venue.
Sandown provides two rooms that will allow you to separate your wedding party from the general public (the Ardross Suite, and the Directors box). Both have their own benefits of use; however the key thing to remember is that if you’re looking for different, you’ll get exactly that.
10. Standing on a plane

After winning a competition to ‘wing walk’, a couple in Wales decided that this would be a great opportunity to enter the book of ‘unusual’ and tie the knot on the top of a plane. With the use of a microphone, the couple were able to hear each other and the Vicar, as they were pronounced husband and wife. Now that puts a new meaning on having your head in the clouds!
