An Extraordinarily Talented Dog’s Guide to the Computer
Scientists have found evidence that dogs can recognise images on a computer screen. They will also respond to barks and other sounds which are electronically produced. Software can actually tell you what you dog is asking for when he barks.
Software now exists to monitor a dog’s bark. It claims that it can tell whether the dog wants to go for a walk, wants to play, or is hungry. As well as that the designers claim that it can distinguish between different dogs by mapping their voice vibrations.
Scientists have also been doing experiments where they show dogs images on a computer screen and measure the degree of image recognition. It has even been discovered that dogs can be trained to select specific images on a screen.
So, what do dogs think about this? We sent a team of reporters out there to interview dogs about their computing knowledge. (We didn’t really, but it sounds good, doesn’t it?)

I think we have a problem with the video card here. Did you check the resolution? You did? Well, maybe I need some new reading glasses. I see double.

That might help, but maybe a larger monitor would be better. I got these on two for one sale at ‘Specsavers’ and they aren’t very stylish. In fact they really irritate my ears, and every time I shake myself they fall off. Not very practical.

I can’t see the problem really. Just stand closer to the screen. I’m really short sighted but I don’t have a problem. Now where did that cursor go? It was right at the top of that mountain before you interrupted me.

Chill out! Relax! That cheeky little poodle looks much sexier from this angle. Hmm, I wish she’d roll over on her back again.

This is really cool. I’ve been talking to her for three months now and she still doesn’t know that I’m a dog.

This is the second one of those memory stick things I’ve eaten. They taste really bad and I haven’t seen any improvement. I still can’t remember where I buried that bone, so it’s back to trial and error excavation. Maybe I’m not using it right. It says USB on it, Use Search Bone but it doesn’t work.

I can fix what you lot did wrong. Stupid, stupid, stupid. You just fiddle with this dead mouse thing and press the buttons. It’s as easy as cat and mouse games.

What a fascinating blog. Everybody who’s anybody blogs. Must get mine up and running. Mmm..’Dog Days’ sounds like a good title, or maybe ‘Ramblings of Rex’, or even ‘Passions of a Parisian Pooch.’

Florence saw an ad on the web for part-time work. She is now tied into a contract and spends many hours per day as a screenwasher. No one told her that you can download software to do this job and the rate of pay is very low. Check out the available free software before you enter into any kind of contract.

Ordering dog food on-line is very easy. You just get hold of a credit card, taking great care not to make dents in it with your teeth and then you carefully match the numbers to the keys on the keyboard and press. Scientists say we can recognise images on a computer screen, so let’s use it to our own advantage. Just go to one click ordering and your favourite food will be delivered within a few hours. By the way you can also order pizza and Chinese takeaway while the humans are out.
