That’s right, welcome to China, where the most extreme in body modifications is not enough. Now with this new growing trend, people go to a local artistic piercer, who then inflates their forehead, and shapes it. They can even add food coloring!

How long does this cry for attention last?

Fortunately, these people cannot make the art permanent, it typically only lasts the night. The trend is picking up in Tokyo as well and it is not uncommon to see people walking around with these head pastries at local clubs as a night trend.

How is it done?

A saline is injected directly into the desired section to be “inflated”. Then it can be molded and colored to try and form interesting body “sculptures”.

What kind of side effects are we talking about?

Well, just the obvious:

• Possible infection
• Stretched skin
• Headache
• A weird feeling of pressure…. surprise surprise

The biggest concern really is the infection. Especially when some decide to try and mix this fad with piercings as well.
