The invention of the cell phone was a great advance in technology. There was no such thing when I grew up. I remember the party line. You would have a certain ring and your neighbor would have another. I imagine that Alexander Bell would be amazed at the advancement of the phone.

A cell phone is just great to have if you have car trouble or are in an accident. A family member or a friend wants to contact you for something important. Having that little cell phone handy is just what everyone needs. However with the invention of the cell phone a lot of people seem to have lost all sense of responsibility and consideration. So many traffic accidents have been caused by people talking on their cell phones while driving. Some states are now passing legislation making it illegal to use you a cell phone unless you have a hands free device.

I’ve seen people in my bank totally ignore the teller and continue to talk on the phone. Such an action is rude and discourteous. I’ve seen similar actions in restaurants and stores. Tellers, cashiers, waitresses and others deserve respect. I’ve heard stories of cell phones ringing at funerals and even heard a story of a doctor answering his cell phone while he was in surgery.

I have read, although it has not been scientifically proven that prolonged use of a cell phone could possibly cause brain cancer. If this is true we will have a world of zombies in a short time.

Just think of a movie title, The Night of the Cell Phone Zombies. Zombies with the cell phones still up to their ears.
