In this day and age numerous bills are payed by having the charge automatically withdrawn from customer checking accounts. That doesn’t make it easy to keep track of checking account balances. In the end people with checking accounts have to suffer another charge. This explains the problem and how it can get solved with some alert technology.

    Checking Account Original Need

Checking accounts were set up to allow people to leave most of their money in the bank and not carry it all around. Looking back in time it is easy to understand. It sure was a wise choice to have one instead of having large sums of funds with you while down town in some bar getting drunk. There were some places in the eighteen hundreds where gamblers would shoot you down for not paying fast enough. Crime didn’t fade away as time passed. That is why people that do not fill wallets have a stronger chance of retaining some money after their pockets are picked. Over the years it turned out to be safer to mail checks to pay bills than to stuff envelopes with dollar bills. One just had to learn how to sign the checks in some way that couldn’t be forged. Why has that form of bill payment fallen out of fashion?

   Checking Account Old Time Use

Way back thirty years ago people with checking accounts had to keep a close track of the balance. It really hurt  when the check written to pay some bill bounced. The electricity or natural gas could get shut down right in the middle of the winter no matter how deep the snow was. In order to keep things straight the people writing checks had to make sure the amount the check was written for got noted on the opposite side of the check book. They had to be mathematically skilled enough to subtract that amount from the balance listed on top of it. Balancing the check book that way allowed check writers to know exactly how much money was available before another check ever got written. The people that went ahead and wrote another check tended to really be in need for something. They could tell themselves that a paycheck or some family help would reach the bank before the check written did, The trick was to be faster than any mailman. Why can’t people run faster than satellite transmissions?
