Creepy Crawlers and Flying Monsters Can Help Save Lives
Medical Science is now considering creepy creatures, and flying monsters such as spiders, maggots and leeches, lizards, whipworms, scorpions and vampire bats as medical wonders to treat various diseases.
Creatures that are well-known as Halloween monsters are not meant to scare, but rather, are meant to heal as Dr. Hector Valdivia, a professor at the University Of Wisconsin Medical School in Madison said that these creatures are giving light to medical science.
Venoms of creepy spiders are said to have the possibility to treat tumors, and their webs can aid blood clotting in wounds. Slimy leeches and maggots, on the other hand can help clean up wounds. It may sound disgusting, but don’t worry because these are used only for specific cases.
Next on the list are lizards. A diet drug based on the spit of a venomous stripped lizard was proven to help overweight people with diabetes to shed of pounds. Now have you heard of whipworms? Well if not, these are worms found in pigs. Researchers are considering the idea of ingesting whipworm eggs in capsule form to help combat the flare-ups associated with multiple sclerosis. The eggs would hatch in the intestine and this can trigger a favorable immune response in patients. These treatments may sound yucky, but it helps a lot to give comfort to people whose diseases can be cured with it, and gives them the chance to live a normal life and experience what most of us enjoy.
A research done by Dr. Valdivia showed that toxins from poisonous scorpions that can paralyze their victims can actually benefit mankind, because it has the ability to penetrate cell membranes that’s impenetrable by any drug. This is still in the development phase but they have high hopes on how it can help a lot of patients when it’s ready. Last on the list are vampire bats. Their clot-resisting saliva is believed to help brain cell death in stroke patients. A drug that’s inspired by the enzyme of this bat’s saliva is being tested as blood thinner.
Gruesome as it may look like but it can actually help save lives. There are many experiments done to make sure that new developed drugs based on the study of the healing potentials of these creatures can bring good effects to those suffering from different kinds of illnesses. Medical science never stops and continuously would do its best to discover a cure even if the potential cure would be coming from insects and other animals that we’ve never even imagined to like.

Thanks
Excellent reading, with an informative and unusual topic
Good stuff…
Another scientific marvel. You just forgot about snake’s venom which had been in use with hypertensive patients and other ailments. great post.
Excellent post

Very cool article!
It was very interesting. But i don’t think that it would be good to put any form of worms into our own bodies. Yes, they might help with diseases, and other forms of trouble people might be getting their hands on. But what if these worms adapt and find ways to get into other people’s bodies that dont need the worms. Especially if they are in contact with intestines and the stomach. The worms could also adapt and possibly be very hurtful. But if the good doctor says it’s safe, then we really couldn’t have much say.
