When it comes to death there are so many mysteries. Usually, at least on thing is certain: The thing which was living is living no more. A woman in Kararia, north of Nairobi, was believed to be dead for seven hours. When in 1987 the 130 year old woman was thought to have passed, her burial was arranged for later the same day. During the process of lowering her coffin into the grave the woman sat up. She was speaking as she stepped up and out of the grave. The villagers sacrificed a pure white lamb at the grave to keep away evil spirits. Luckily for Kabilo Kiptoo, the prematurely buried matriarch, The people of her tribe also believe that a person who comes back to life brings good fortune.
In Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, a 65 year old man was ill and constantly coughing for a week with asthma. He fooled his wife, his eight children, and the neighbors who all believed he was dead when he stopped coughing, cooled off, and stopped moving. No one was able to find a pulse. When his grave had been dug, four hours later, and his last rites were being preformed before burial, he surprised everyone when he sat up and wanted to know why they were all crying! Munir Mahidun was almost buried too early in 1987, but there is another earlier case that might be more disturbing.
In 1983 there was a case of mistaken death in Berlin, Germany. Being buried alive is not a phenomenon that only occurs in remote places in Africa and Asia. In this case an 81 year old man was saved from burial when the mourners at his funeral heard him clearing his throat inside of his coffin. For a time, the incident created a sensation and the matter of premature burial was discussed in the media. A German professor, H.J. Mallach stated that as many as 20 Germans were buried alive each year. A Dr. Peron-Autret estimates that about 200 may be buried alive every year in the United States!

Interesting post.
This is horrible. I do hope they make sure I am dead, very dead when I am about to be buried. It probably happens in faiths where the bodies have to be buried immediately.
