Here are some fun and interesting facts you probably didn’t know.

Did you know that a rat can live longer than a camel without water? I guess that explains why there are more rats in the world than camels.

A person has to produce a new layer of mucus in the stomach every two weeks or the stomach will digest itself. Oh my God that is disgusting.

If you own a female ferret and she has not been spaded if she goes into heat and does not mate she will die. Now I guess we can call that being really sexually frustrated or is it love?

During World War II the Oscars could not get their hands on metal because it was scarce so they made their trophies out of wood.

Orange, silver and purple have no rhyming words found in the dictionary. So the next poem you decide to write maybe you should not include these words.

NASA will not allow astronauts to eat beans before going into orbit because passing gas in their space suits damage them.

If you want to watch a scorpion kill themselves pour a bit of alcohol (liquor) on them and they will instantly go crazy and sting themselves to death.

The first CD pressed in the United States was Bruce Springsteen Born in the USA.

If you ever find yourself sinking fast in quick sand just lay on your back and raise your legs. You will not sink into oblivious but rather kind of float on top. I guess the person in the photo above didn’t know this.

For those of you who need to have things Kosher then you will be happy to know that licking an Israeli postage stamp is indeed Kosher.

When bats are exiting caves they will always turn left. So remember the next time you are at the entrance of a cave keep to the right.

Prime TVs first couple shown in bed were Wilma and Fred Flintstones. They were the couple that brought sex to prime time.

If you have always wondered what statues of people on horses in parks really mean here you go. If both of the front legs of the horse are in the air then the person died in battle, if only one foot of the horse is in the air then the person died from wounds from battle and if all four feet of the horse is on the ground then the person died of natural causes. I bet none of us will look at statues the same way again…

There is only one food on earth that never will spoil, do you know what it is? Honey.

House flies are the most dangerous animal on earth due to the fact they visit waste often most diseases can be transmitted by them. Yuk!

Maine is the only state in the Unites States that has no poisonous snakes.

One inch of rain is equal to 15 inches of snow.

    Fun trivia Linda. However, I do have an odd fact, not sure how unknown it is. Did you know a mole can dig a tunnel 300 feet long in one night?

    I didn’t know any of these, fascinating about the Bruce Springsteen CD (a fave album of mine!) and also making Oscars out of wood!

    That horse statue tale may have been true or started out that way, but I read a disclaimer that expelled that urban legend and cited several statues that disobeyed this ‘rule.’ Anyway, great list. :-)

    Alaska doesn’t have any poisonous snakes either, and, believe it or not, it is state.
