Dog Says Prayers in Zen Temple
Who knows if this little dog is praying for world peace, or maybe just dreaming of bones and doggie treats?
No doubt you have already heard of the praying mantis but a praying dog is something more of a rarity.
Japanese Buddhist Priest, Joei Yossikunu, has a little black and white Chihuahua named Conan. The little dog is eighteen months old, and he follows Joei around, even when he goes to the Temple in Naha, Southern Okinawa. He is always keen to please.

Conan has started to take up a position of prayer beside his master. He has learned how to do this by imitation and has never been trained to do it.

He sits on his haunches with his paws together in front of his face as thought he is praying too. Of course, it isn’t possible to know whether he is actually saying “doggie” prayers, or just doing it to please his master.

This is a remarkable dog!
I love stories about animals, and this is excellent. I have never heard of a dog doing anything like that before. Thank you very much for this. I’ve e-mailed it to some friends.
