Most people are fond of writing journals or writing letters for our best buddies. And some teenagers are fond of writing the names of their crushes all over the page of their notes. Or friends from a secret club that needs to communicate each other.

The ecstatic feeling ends when a younger brother founds out about your secrets and keeps on blackmailing you.

Here are some secret codes you can use when you write your letters to keep it a underground:

1. The Letter Code

   This code uses another letter to represent another letter. For instance A is N and N is A; and B is O and O is B, and so on. So the secret word “na” is read as “an”. Other examples are:

2. The Number Code

   The number code uses a number to represent a letter. For example A is 1 and Z-26. Make sure that you separate each numbers by a hyphen or any symbol so as to distinguish one letter from another. Here are some examples:

   Garden – 7-1-18-4-5-14

   Money – 13-15-14-5-25

   Phone – 16-18-15-14-5

3. The Picture Code

   In a picture code, a letter is represented by a picture or a symbol. For instance, A is &, B is *, C is!, D is #, E is @, F is ;, G is /, H is }, I is], J is :

   Examples are as follows:

   Dig - # ] /

   Fad - ; & #

   Hide - }] # @

4. The Inverted Letter

   Now this one is a bit harder. Here, the writer is inverting a letter – writing the last letter of the letter as the first but dividing words on every fifth letter regardless of the punctuation marks. If the last word does not have five letters, just add X as long as it is necessary. For example:

   YSSIM EVOLD NEIRF RUOYE

   BOTDA LGMAI NITRA EDXXX

   This is read as:

   Dear Tin I am glad to be your friend. Love Missy.

5. The Invisible Letter

   To do this you must make an invisible ink. This magic ink is done by combining salt, milk or sugar to water. Then, the solution is used write the letter using a stick. When the paper you write on is dry, you can see nothing on it. Then you can send this to your friend.

   To read the message, you will need a lighted candle. Put the letter above the fire until the dried solution that you used to write turns brown.
