Let It Shine
The need for creativity in a world that is going through transitional labor pains and need for a spiritual emphasis in our world.
Our world is in the labor pains of major transition. The old panacea’s do not work anymore. A statement that is essentially true, “you will never obtain something for nothing.” Remember we all have to wear baby shoes till we grow adult feet. Creating something great and worthwhile takes a lot of time and many steps.
If we try and and shift the responsibility to others to solve all our problems or blame others for the problems we have, we have crossed over into the blackness of denial. As a nation of great diversity many of us can no longer afford the luxuries we once took for granted. We grunt and groin and blame whoever is handy. We are deceiving ourselves without moving forward or doing anything to change our lives and adapt. Economic hardship is a grim reality for a great many people. Food is not a luxury. This is self evident. The one thing I believe we truly can no longer afford is aimlessness. The aimless are responsible for their own lives whether they like it or not! From my star-ship, I have observed far too many aimless people. Often these are the same people (wealthy or poor) who turn to drugs and alcohol to fill the void aimlessness creates in their life. A famous personality can reach the end (or so it seems) of a magnificent career and become a drug addict because their outlook combined with drugs forecasts an aimless future with no consideration of creating something even better.
In the Roget’s Thesaurus aimless is considered an adjective.(seldom used as one) It means, having no goal. It is suppose to modify a noun. But, having no goal is a little hard to use as a modifier. Thus, aimless is “blind,” “careless,’ “hit or miss,” “undirected,’ “vagrant,” “wayward,” and “erratic.” There are more adjectives if you want to look them up. See how many people fit these adjectives: people you know or even yourself.
I heard a very intelligent writer and teacher speak about creativity. She spoke about taking those baby steps to fulfill creation. She spoke of Thomas Edison who made 1,600 attempts trying to figure out how to make the fillament in a light bulb. What an enormous achievement. What enduring creative fire kept him trying? Sometimes aimless people come out in a burst and fall flat down dead. A real athlete doesn’t run a marathon after lying in bed for two months. Most times aimless people don’t even try to do much of anything. Aimless people avoid the problem or the project. They ignore other people’s suffering or need. They might sit for a minute and put one block on top of another and say, “So, what good did that do?’
Which brings me to my final point…something that too many of us ignore. Our world was created for us. We are it Stewards. We were not meant to be aimless. Looking back on all civilization the amount of creativity is tremendous. People worked hard. They worked the land. They built. They created a government, by the people and for the people. Why do we forget? Is it easier to be aimless and let things slide?
Our Creator loved the world so much he/she gave us a part of creation and Creator. It is the light within us. It was the light in Thomas Edison. We all carry that light inside; the light of Creation. We can create a better world in the midst of confusion. We have the building blocks right in our brains, and in our hearts. We have the LIGHT. A message to the aimless, “open your eyes and let the light shine!” “Let it shine…” “Let it shine…” “Let it shine…”
