Take it from me. THERE ARE SOME PROFESSIONAL COMPANIES OUT THERE WHO ONLY WANT YOUR MONEY!!! THEY WILL, I REPEAT WILL, TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES AND WATCH THERE OWN BACK BEFORE THEY WATCH YOURS. Because i don’t want some young boys and girl trying to get into the business to get hurt here are a few things to watch for. (plain and simple)

1. They should not ask for money beforehand.

2. They should not ask you to pay for your own pictures for your portfolio.

3. Become suspicious if they do not have their own building (Try to stay away from those hosting auditions at hotels, malls, etc.)

4. They should not force you to go to out of town shoots or events.

5. They should not force you into wearing uncomfortable clothing.

6. They may ask you to change your look or style around (this is ok)

7. They should never take 20% or more of the money you earn.

8. If the company really wants you the way they say they do, they should be willing to not take a penny from you in hopes that they will make the money back by getting you work.

9. They make take some of the money you earn early on in your career to go back to building a better portfolio, etc. (this is also ok!)

10. Give yourself as much time as you want to look over a contract. There could always be some tricky agreement in the small print. (if they try to rush you into it, something may not be right….)

11. Come to auditions as natural as possible. Hair pulled back and bangs off of face so that they can see your beautiful face!

12. Be calm, breathe deeply, have fun, and really enjoy yourself while you are at your audition. Be very confident that you can blow the judges away!

I promise you that allot of things in life are mind over matter. Believe you can do it and you’ll make the judges believe that too!!
