Peculiar Drivers
An investigation into why the “not so normal” drivers drive the way they do. It may leave more questions than answers.
Every since the day that I started to drive on the road, behind the wheel, I have wondered why some people drive the way they do. I know that everyone has crossed paths with these type of individuals. But have you stopped and wondered why they drive like they do instead of getting upset or angry? You have the speeders, slow pokes, annoying, bumper sniffing, rear end riders, etc. Some consider the speed limit itself not normal at times. I personally drive slightly over the limit of the law. Not walking, but driving on thin ice or the edge. Nothing outrageous or reckless by any means.
For example, there are many occasions where I am driving and while doing so, I look in my rear view mirror to check out traffic behind me. I vaguely see a spot or tiny image in my mirror. I can tell the car is going super fast because it is getting bigger. Seems to me he/she is making a conservative effort to catch up to me. Before I realize, they are on my bumper. I slow down a bit to let them pass. Only to find out they will not even if I accelerate or decelerate my vehicle. Traffic in the lane is dead, but they remain close behind. What is the deal with that? It scares me to drive to close behind someone for fear I will not be able to stop in time, causing a serious accident. Can anyone explain this trend or peculiar behavior? What is the fetish involved behind this?
Another one I would like to touch base with is the slow and weary drivers in front. Does anyone find it extremely strange that when you have be be somewhereand running behind, you can always count on the slow and questionable drivers? There are many times that I get off work and want to make it home to eat and get my errands finished, they are there and it seems that they are barely moving. They think it a transgression to even come close to the designated speed limit. Are they even being mindful of their surroundings and driving? It sure does not appear so. They do worry me tremendously and I have to stay on the defensive. I have been told in the past that it is the slower drivers who do not pay attention causes more accidents then speeders. Not really sure about that but the theory seems sound.
I am not by any means saying that I am a perfect driver. I am sure there are times I fall in the category of a peculiar driver. We all generally see things differently and have our little irritating moments under the sun. It could possibly be a self centered issue involved here as well. Point is, there are drivers out there who are better than others. No disputing that, but everyone has there bad days and dumb moments. Some more then others. We as a people must exercise patience and self control while driving. A good hearted person does not wish any ills to befall others. Tempers do boil, actions such as road rage are spontaneous, but that does not define our true character and personality. We are all parents, children, friends, mates, spouses, and human beings. We all have no choice but to live together here on mother Earth. Let’s make the best of it.

i dont drive myself, but i used to know someone who always creeped up to the bumper of the car in front of us. it was like he was too scared to overtake and wanted to go faster at the same time. really tense and restless :S
nice story
I can’t stand the ones, especially truck drivers, who stay right on your bumper.
Yes, that’s why it’s so important to treat others as best as you can, because those same people share the road with you and all your loved ones.
Blessings.

If only we could all be considerate
