Playing The Name Game

An answer to Chris Marlowe II, who plays the name game with Lauren and me.

Mr. Marlowe!

You’re playing the name game with me? Prithee! What ails thee?

I put this article up as an answer to your ditty Playing with Your Dark Half on The Mean Street.

There is no death in Dié (as there is no death in Bruges-la-Morte, as Patrick Bernauw points out) but I strongly object to the pronunciation of Dee.

To misquote you in one of your other guises: ‘To Dee or not to Dee’ must lead you in other directions than misusing my good name.

But ‘Do Relax’! Or haven’t you noted that Axelrod is but an anagram of that? I suppose that Doctor Lauren, a delver into the myths and secrets of the past as she proved in Illustrious and Historical Legends, Tales, and Myths of the World, does relax as the dies are thrown at my feet. Or should that be a gauntlet?

And even if two opposing sides of a die always add up to seven, that is no prove positive, I tell you.

But quite frankly, Lauren and I are neither here nor there. Of much more interest are your many other guises over time. So what is your alter ego William Shakespeare doing on Triond under the name of duromus?

I have to tell you: Pasop! The requiem to this story has not yet been written, and as I’ll come to the Dies Irae, Dies Illae, I’ll remember your name! To forgive and forget is not my cup of tea.

In your favour I do admit that multiple personae disorder is a cure to loneliness, but it is confusing for the rest of humanity no end.
