These days you can find world championship almost in anything. The World Beard and Moustache Championships is a biennial event supported by beard and moustache clubs in at least nine countries.

In 1990, the first “World Beard and Moustache Championship” was hosted by “First Höfener Beard Club” (1. Höfener Bartclub) in its hometown Höfen/Enz, Germany. In 1995, the same club hosted the second World Beard and Moustache Championships in the nearby city of Pforzheim.

That was just the beginning of the beard tradition. In 2001 it was in Germany, in 2003 in USA (Nevada), in 2007 in England.

Gunnar Rosenquist (Sweden)

Willi Chevalier (Germany)

James Hood (Great Britain)

Jack Passion (Great Britain)

Franz “Schani” Mitterhauser (Austria)

Burke Kenny (USA)

Elmar Weisser (Germany)

A very interesting article, Mr.O. I can’t even stand to have my hair long so I don’t know how these men can handle having so much hair on their faces! The last picture is most unusual..Standing beside him in a crowd could result in a serious eye injury.

    Great job!

Very cute. I’ve used that picture of the guy with red hair in another article. What a popular man he is.

Thank you. Too bad that this isn’t more popular article.
