Techno Toilets Gone Wild

Published by thestickman in Offbeat

Toilets and their use is a basic necessity but what happens when technology overtakes practicality? You get Japanese toilets! Submit for your approval some hilarious videos of toilets featuring the automated Japanese toilet. Cats and dogs may be involved but no pets were harming in the making of this article. So turn your volume up and crank your sensibilities down, here come the toilet videos.

My child gets some intense pleasure from watching the toilet water swirl away down the drain. And (with some moderate supervision) he has discovered toilet videos on YouTube. These and “In the Night Garden” (a children’s television program) are all part of his evening pre-bedtime ritual. Here are some of his favorite toilet-based humor videos. Some of the videos I found have adult language so use discretion when viewing if in the workplace, home, etc.

Lately my young son has been humming the theme music from the Spielberg movie “JAWS” followed by that hauntingly disturbing music of the ‘shower scene’ from Alfred Hitchcock’s horror/thriller “PYSCHO.” He keeps talking about the ‘dog video.’ I am pretty sure that this is the inspiration of his new found love of movie soundtracks.

Revenge of the Hi-Tech Toilet

A videographer gets sprayed by the toilet while trying to show how it works. Maybe this is what my son is laughing about in his sleep in the middle of the night.

Far Too Complicated This Toilet

A Japanese automated toilet video showing the complexities of operation. Far too complicated for emergencies. This thing has more buttons on it than Darth Vader’s shuttle. I’d be afraid to use this.

Exploring the Japanese Toilet

These guys are just having a hilarious time figuring out how those Japanese toilets work and discovering how to spray water onto the closet door. Clearly beer may have been involved. This commode is supercharged; you could use this thing to put out fires! Do we really need this much power in a crapper?

Probably the Best Cat Video Ever!

I had to include this as there are many videos of cats using toilets, flushing and pulling reams of toilet paper off the roll. In the vane of humor, you just can’t beat cat videos and this is very likely one of the very best.

These cat videos are insane! And I suppose that in Japan, one needs a degree in engineering and/or computer science before using a toilet! I wonder if they have degree programs in toilet usage. I have also heard of Japanese toilets that can be programmed to run lab tests on the urine to monitor or diagnose medical problems.

Great article, certainly made me chuckle. I’ve just written a short piece about toilets in restaurants, which includes information about a Japanese chain of “toilet” themed restaurants! Only in Japan!
