The Art of Spying
Learn some of the tricks that spies use everyday.
Being a spy has it’s advantages and disadvantages, but why be a spy in the first place? What will one encounter while being a spy? Is being a spy right for me?
The first thing that a spy needs are the basics of spying. A spy will need food, plastic freezer bags, a poncho, a tiny signal mirror,a flashlight, extra batteries, binoculars, a digital camera, and a blank notebook.
The things that a spy needs to know is that the will need to learn how to make and break secret codes, codes such as ciphers, Brail, and Morse code are essentials, also a spy should know sign language. Today it is very important that spies are multilingual, in other words they need to know more that one language and be fluent at it.
A spy’s biggest ally is deception. A spy must have a cover and wear disguises in order for them not to be recognized and so that they will blend into their surroundings like a chameleon A disguise can include but is not limited to glasses, hair and wigs, clothes, and uniforms. Other things that a spy might try is to change their height and weight by adding a pillow or slouching over.
Things that are a must in the world of spying are that they should always have a secondary course of action, in other words a “plan B”.A spy must have good powers of observation.
Spies often shadow others by using camouflage, cover. You only need one eye to see around a corner. The person being followed is called the rabbit. The one whom is following is called they eye. Always follow with your eyes, sunglasses would be a plus. When street shadowing, always keep a safe distance, but keep the target in site. Act like you are window shopping, or carry a newspaper.
Watching a location can be a challenge, but if you find a building with a view of the location it can be much easier. The further that you stand back from a window the harder it is for anyone to see you.Wait at a bus stop. Build a location cover, like a garage sale, or hot dog stand. Always have an escape plan, the easier the better.
Hopefully this will provide a base for your own spying methods.
