The rumors are true.

If they weren’t, I’d tell you.

I promise.

But what people said was going to happen—

has happened.

Spring has sprung!

I know. It’s hard to believe. Especially if you live in a part of the country like mine, where rain is the norm, and cold air seeps into every corner eight months out of the year.

But you can believe me. I wouldn’t lie about this.

Spring is really here.

How can I tell?

I have what I call a “black thumb”. If I try to grow plants, they need to have a strong—really strong—desire to live if they’re going to survive.

I do what I can. I compost the ground. I fertilize. I water—when I remember to, any way.

But, for the most part, if I truly wish to see a plant in my yard, I either start with bulbs—because they grow no matter what—or I buy nice, healthy plants.

Now and then, though, I try seeds. The eternal optimist.

And guess what?

I have a whole BUNCH of seeds sprouting!

The way I plant seeds is to mess up the ground a bit, throw the seeds in, water them, then tell the seeds, “Grow or die, it’s up to you”.

So you can see why I’m so excited that several of my seeds are surviving.
