As Horace said, De gusitbus non est disputandum (there's no arguing matters of taste). But as an antidote to all this extravagance consider the following: Cambodian giant grilled spiders, Chinese grilled scorpions on a stick, worms, duck fetus cooked just before the duck's old enough to peck through the shell, Thai fried lizard, dog, grubs, Indonesian snake blood, Chinese snake wine, rats, maggots, Thai fried lizard, Mexican grasshopper tacos (tacos de chaulines), white ant eggs (escamoles). A friend once told me of having dinner with his Eskimo girlfriend at her parents' home. The main course consisted of wild duck that had hung until it was ripe, thrown whole into a boiling pot of water head, feet, feathers, guts and all and cooked till it fell apart. You dipped through a floating scum of feathers to feast on whatever you could dredge up. Think of this next time you're enjoying your Serendipity 3 sundae.

I guess if you've got it, you spend it. To me it's quite foolish. Give your money to the poor, the sick and starving people in the world. That would make me feel good inside (in my heart not my belly). Does any of that fill you up anyway? Decadent!

I've actually tried the coffee recently at a department store in London. They sold it for £50 a cup as a charity event. It was really good. Most of the food listed here are a bit excessive and unnecessary, particularly the omelette (all the protein and cholesterol). But saying that people who pay for it are selfish and immoral is just not right. What people do with their own money is their rights, and that has nothing to do with other people starving. How do we know that they have not given away their money for charity?
