Things to Do When You are Bored at Work

Here are some suggestions to liven up those moments of boredom at work.

There are times when you have absolutely nothing to do at work and you are bored out of your mind. Here are some suggestions to liven up those moments of boredom at work.

·         Play a game

Most people have an internet connection at work. If your online activities at work are not closely monitored by your employer or if your browsing is not restricted to some specific websites, you can play online games from several websites in your free time. However, while you are playing, turn the screen so that anyone passing behind you cannot see that you are playing a game.

·         Get some fashion advice

During your free time at office, you can log onto some latest fashion magazines websites and find out what is latest and hottest and keep up with the latest happenings in the fashion world.

·         Get new book or movie suggestions

Log onto the internet and find out if any of your favourite authors is publishing a book this week or in the days to come. If you are more into movies, check out if any interesting movie is being released in the coming days.

·         Listen to music

If headphones are allowed at your workplace, connect them to your ipod or phone and start listening away. You will soon be carried from the boring confines of your office to the beautiful world of your imagination. But, don’t stray into this world for too long in case your supervisor comes up from behind and catches you daydreaming.

·         Chat with colleagues

If you are friends with any of your colleagues, you can go chat with them in your free time but don’t make this a regular occurrence otherwise people will start noticing that you are free and start commenting on it. Make it seem like you have just come from doing something important and after talking for a bit, go away saying that you have a lot to do.

·         Catch up on incoming work

If you really love your work and feel bored without it, you can research on some projects that you know you will be working on soon. This will increase your knowledge about your project and you will be able to impress your boss with your knowledge. But this sounds too nerdy right? Let’s move on to my next idea.

·         Catch up with friends

You can sms your friends when you have nothing to do in the office. Ask them how their day is going, their plans for the weekend or anything else that you want to talk about.

·         Plan your weekend

While you have no work, you can also plan out your weekend. Think about what you will do on the precious days of the weekend. Will you sleep in? What movie or game will you got to watch? Which friend/family member will you go out shopping with or have lunch with?

Pass your spare time with these lovely thoughts and it will make your sitting at your desk with no work to do more bearable.

So these were my tips to fill your empty office hours. I hope you find them useful.
