What If the World Suddenly Lost the Use of Pens?

I’ve decided to go the hypothetical route and write about something totally … odd.

As random as this topic may seem, trust me, this could be tragic! I mean, think about all the reasons we use pens for these days. I know the computer takes away some of there use, but how can you sign a document on the computer? See? I told you this could be one tragic ordeal!

Now, I go into list mode. So, here’s a list of things that could change if the world suddenly lost the use of pens.

  1. You couldn’t write colorful notes to your friends in pen, instead of jotting down those intriguing biology notes on the bored.
  2. A teacher once told me that she writes in pen a lot because she doesn’t want her stuff to get erased. So, what if you are writing down those biology notes and you write them in pencil? They could rub against other papers and all of a sudden, all of those handwritten notes about cells could be vanished! Trust me, you don’t want to find that out when test time comes around.
  3. How about when you’re out at a restaurant and your waiter takes your order, how will they write it down? They could go with a pencil, but what if something traumatic happens and it gets rubbed off? It would take longer to get food into your starving stomach!
  4. When you have a spur of the moment epiphany, how else would you write it down? Sure, you can substitute almost anything for paper, but you can’t always do that for pens. It’s totally way more likely for you to have a pen on you anyway. Pencils or markers written on napkins just don’t come in as clear as they would if you had a pen.
  5. Back to the school setting, how will you edit each other’s papers when they give you time to peer edit? I mean, if you use pencil, it will jumble in with whatever that person wrote. It’s not like they were able to write in pen. Markers. Well, markers become such hassles when it comes to those college ruled lines.

Alright, so there you go. Five more reasons as to why it would be tragic if pens suddenly vanished off of this Earth. Therefore, just in case, we should cherish those moments we have with them, and NOT take these inanimate objects for granted.
