Why is It That…

A few questions that always make me wonder.

People who can afford a computer, Internet, cell phone, new car, ten pairs of shoes, tickets to a football game, but can never seem to come up with money when they need to take their pet to the veterinarian?

The same people who say greed or gambling are sins, also play the lottery?

Your employer, who is always talking about their next vacation, new furniture, or whatever, suddenly is barely getting by when you ask for a raise?

Cats can bring you dead mice, but never help when you lost something really important, like your car keys?

Ice Cream always melts faster than you can eat it?

Everyone insists they are a good parent, but there are so many messed up people?

We eat chicken and yet get mad at our cats for killing birds?

It is considered murder (by some people) to abort unborn fetuses, but the same people do not consider it murder to shoot down a doctor in front of his family?

We are told never to judge others on appearance alone, but are also taught that we must look nice because good first impressions are important?

Cats and dogs, which bring so much joy into our lives, have such short lifespans?

People complain about the prices of gasoline, but not the prices of bottled water?

The people with the most kids are sometimes the ones who shouldn’t have had any, and the couples who cannot conceive are often the ones who would make good parents?

When you ask your parents to buy you a horse, they never do, but when your sister asks for a dog, she gets one? (Kidding a bit on this one, my parents got me riding lessons, which proved to be very valuable later when I got my own horse).

I totally share you idea. Good points to ponder.

You’re the thinker in this bunch. Let’s have some answers next time. I know. If there were answers, there wouldn’t be need for questions in the first place. Nice post as always. Rodin could have sculpted you.

    Life indeed has many ironies.

Very interesting. I’ve wondered about some of those things myself.

It is the irony we owe to our great Creator. Accepting it and learning from within we could accept changes with an open heart. That’s why despite the odds I maintain a bet in the lottery. If I should publish a masterpiece yet I dont deserve a comment and afterwards matched 4 digits in my bet with the lottery I would say it’s a fair game. It’s great thing you shared about this because we all feel the same only we may react in our own personal way. Keep the idea flowing, Godbless.

the first one is the one that bothers me most. I use to work at an animal shelter and we, at one time, offered spay/neuter assistance to people who could not afford it. People had to fill out applications. I kid you not that people drove up in expensive new SUV’s and complained that $80 to neuter a male cat, or $120 to spay a female cat, was more than they could afford, and could we help them… sickening!!!

Hmmm. Yes, Number one is the real kicker in this list. And I’ll admit, I have a computer, a mortgage, a truck payment…and find it hard to pay the vet bills. I have too many pets–never a good plan; and too many bills–also not a good plan. Finding a good vet that doesn’t charge an arm and a leg for simple visits, flea control, etc., is a challenge. There are good vets that are horribly expensive (I paid $400 to get my daughter’s two queens spaed), and there are cheap vets who will let your pets die. I’ve finally found a pretty good one, but even they cannot work miracles. My Richard might be helped if I could come up with $1000 for expensive scans, etc., but his illness is so advanced they just say “we’ll keep him comfortable”. My solution: the young ones I’ve not gotten to the vet yet are separated with a two-room buffer zone between in case of zipping through doors, and NO ONE is allowed outside unless on a lead or in a cat box. Some day I will get them all done….Some day I will have all the debts paid…

All good questions and thoughts. I find that hypocrisy, self absorption, and nonsensical sentiment now overwhelmingly rule this society.

God has nothing to do with it in my opinion, but don’t get me started on that nugget! Life’s a bitch at times and all your points are both valid and very true. We just have to learn from our knock-backs and move off in a different direction….often with surprising results further down the line!

Some very good points… rather, quetions!!!

I have pondered some of these questions myself.

I have a Major Mitchell parrot that has a life span of 60-80 years..I wish he was a cat sometimes. My boss came to work yesterday dressed-up to the nines because she was going to a Pink concert..yet we have to compromise our duty of care to our patients because they have so many budget constraints.
