When Was the Parachute Invented?
A parachute refers to any canopied fabric device that is strapped to a person or thing. It is generally umbrella shaped and used to slow down the descent from a high altitude. The parachute resists the movement of air past them, acting as a sort of brake. This results in a soft landing. The person feels no more shock than if he had jumped down from a three metre high wall.
