Therefore, these are the random charts of numbers that marked the world history during 1900 – 2008:

  1. 1904: Japan declared war on Russia.  These countries fought over the control of Manchuria and Korea.  Japan defeated Russia and became a world power.
  2. 1909: Robert Peary reached North Pole.
  3. 1911: Roald Amundsen reached South Pole.
  4. 1914: Austro – Hungarian Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated.
  5. 1917: US entered World War I.  Russian Revolution began.  Tsarist government overthrowned.
  6. 1922: The Soviet Union was formed.
  7. 1918: A flu epidemic killed 20 million people around the world.
  8. 1919: Treaty of Versailles ended the World War I.
  9. 1927: Philo Farnsworth invented the television.
  10. 1928: Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin.
  11. 1929: US stock market collapsed.  The Great Depression began.
  12. 1933: Adolf Hitler became chancellor of Germany.  Edwin Armstrong developed FM radio.
  13. 1936: Spanish civil war broke out.
  14. 1939: World War II began when Germany invaded Poland.  Britain declared war in Germany.  US was neutral.
  15. 1941: Japan bombed Hawaii’s Pearl Harbor. Then, US declared war on Japan.  Both Germany and Italy declared war on US.
  16. 1945: Germany surrendered and the war in Europe ended.  US dropped atomic bombs in Japan on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.  Japan surrendered to US.
  17. 1948: Israel became a nation.
  18. 1949: Mao Zedong set up the Communist People’s Republic of China.  South Africa passed the Apartheid laws which made discrimination against non-white people.
  19. 1950: North Korea Communist invaded South Korea.  American supported South Korea.  China supported North Korea.  The war ended three years later.  Frank McNamara developed the first credit card using paper stock.
  20. 1952: Edward Teller and a team at Los Alamos, New Mexico developed hydrogen bomb.
  21. 1953: Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay reached the top of Mt. Everest.
  22. 1955: Jonas Salk’s introduced the polio vaccine.
  23. 1963: US John F. Kennedy was assassinated.  Lindon B. Johnson was inaugurated.
  24. 1964: US sent troops to Vietnam War to aid South Vietnam.
  25. 1967: The Six-Day War broke out between Israel and neighboring Arab nations Egypt, Syria, and Jordan.
  26. 1973: Paris Peace Accords ended Vietnam War. But, North Vietnam violated the treaty and invaded Saigon.  Yom Kippur War began when Egypt and Syria attacked Israel.
  27. 1978: US Jimmy Carter, Israel Menachem Begin, and Egypt Anwar Sadat signed the Camp David Accords to achieve peace in the Middle East.
  28. 1979: Ayatollah Khomeini returned to Iran and declared it an Islamic Republic.
  29. 1981: NASA developed the first reusable spacecraft Space Shuttle.  Space Shuttle Columbia was the first to fly.
  30. 1989: Chinese army crushed a demonstration in Tienanmen Square in Beijing.  Hundreds or thousands of students and protesters were killed.  The Berlin Wall was torn down and the Berlin City reunified.
  31. 1990: Apartheid ended in South Africa.  Persian Gulf War began when Iraq invaded Kuwait.
  32. 1991: Soviet Union dissolved.  Croatia, Slovenia, and Macedonia declared their independence from Yugoslavia.  Tim Burners – Lee developed World Wide Web.
  33. 1994: Conflict between Hutu majority and Tutsi minority in Rwanda leaded to a bloody civil war and genocide.
  34. 1999: Honda released the two – door Insight in the US.  A year later, Toyota Prius was released as the first four -door sedan.
  35. 2001: After September 11 terrorist attacked in New York and Washington, US declared international war on terror by attacking Taliban government in Afghanistan and searching for Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda.
  36. 2003: US invaded Iraq with the help of Britain and other allies.  In 2006, Saddam Hussein was executed.  War in Dafur region of Sudan began.
  37. 2004: An interim government was inaugurated in Iraq. A tsunami killed nearly 300,000 people in Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, Thailand, and other Asian countries.
  38. 2006: Montenegro became independent from Serbia.
  39. 2008: Kosovo declared its independence from Serbia.  Global Economic Crisis began.
