Journal of A Colonist in Troubled Times.

You are a teenager at the time of the French and Indian War.  You are to write a series of journal entries to inform future generations of what you have lived through, all the way up to the start of the Revolutionary War.

Each entry should be at least a paragraph long, begin with a date, and include some historically informative details of what has happened, as well as your own reactions, thoughts, and/ or feelings.

By the start of the war, you will have become firmly either a Loyalist, still wishing the colonies to remain subject to the English Crown, or a Patriot, not satisfied until complete independence from England is achieved.

Since most people looking back from modern times will easily side with the victor (in other words, the Patriots), we will take a more realistic approach to the mood of the day, which is truly close to 50/50 even after the first shots were fired at Lexington and Concord.

1)     French Indian War.

2)     The Proclamation of 1763

3)     The Sugar and the Stamp Acts

4)     The Townshend Acts

5)     The Boston Massacre

6)     The Tea Act and The Boston Tea Party

7)     The Intolerable Acts

8)     “The Shot Heard Around the World,” ie, the exchange of gunshots at Lexington and Concord.  Be sure to include why these happened
